hidden dinosaurs
This weekend the kids and I joined my husband on a little off-road trip to Borrego springs. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but we were ready for the adventure. Wait no, my husband was ready, the kids and I were not as excited. They complained most of the morning and while I didn’t say much, I hoped for the best!
As we drove through the breathtaking terrains, and navigated through winding trails, I was able to understand what the hype was about. I loved seeing the rock formations and the scenery was beautiful. I was also finally able to see what our Jeep was capable of. Our little family-friendly excursion turned out to be, a thrilling experience for everyone. While the off-roading aspect wasn’t as exciting for them, the “hidden dinosaurs” we found along the way were that highlight of their day, making our whole trip worth it. Our little ones' curiosity as they looked at all the prehistoric creatures and their story was the highlight of my day. These hidden dinosaurs, which are metal art sculptures, are in Borrego Springs, CA.
I read online, at Our California TV, that these sculptures were created by Ricardo Breceda, a local artist. In the online article it says that the idea came from his daughter asking him to make a big dinosaur for her. He was later commissioned by land owner, Dennis Avery, to assemble his art across the desert.
We had so much fun driving up to the sculptures in the jeep with the tops off, taking pictures. There was only one other family that we bumped into in the whole desert. It was around 5pm when we arrived and the weather was just perfect, and then the views driving back as the sun was starting to set was absolutely breathtaking. The desert is so beautiful in the evening.
So, if you’re looking to build some lifelong memories while bonding with your loved ones in the middle of the desert, this is one you have to try. Get ready to be swept away by the magic of family time spent roaming among the dinosaurs of the desert.
